Denmark Defense

Denmark Defense is a chess opening system that arises from the move sequence 1.e4 e5 2.d4. It is characterized by White’s attempt to sacrifice a pawn on d4 to rapidly develop their pieces and gain an initiative in the center. After 2…exd4, White typically plays 3.Nf3, aiming to attack the pawn and create chances for quick development. The Denmark Defense is considered aggressive and tactical, offering dynamic possibilities for White but also posing risks due to the pawn sacrifice. It is less common than other openings and can catch opponents off guard, leading to sharp and complicated positions.
